【摘要】:Thedegradationofinsufficientlystabilized1,1,1-trichloroethane,inthepresenceofaluminum,resultsintheformationofhydrochloricacidandpolymericresidue.Thus,ifsuchdegradationisallowedtocontinue,thealuminumwillbecorrodedandthe1,1,1-trichloroethanerenderedunusable.Thepresenceoffreewaterinvalidatesthistestmethod.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtodetermineif1,1,1-trichloroethaneissufficientlystabilizedtoinhibitreactionwithaluminumoraluminumalloys.Solventpassingthistestmethodstillmaynotbestableforallapplications.Consultaproducerforuseapplications.Aluminumshouldnotbeusedasamaterialofconstructionforpumps,tanks,pipelines,valves,sprayequipment,orotherhandlingequipmentusedforchlorinatedsolvents.Properlystabilizedhalogenatedsolventsare,however,commonlyusedincleaningaluminumandothersensitivemetals.1.1Thisisascreeningtestmethodtodetermineifsufficientinhibitorsarepresentin1,1,1-trichloroethanetoprovideatleastminimalstabilityinthepresenceofaluminum.1.2Solventpassingthistestmethodmaynotbestableforallapplications.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.AspecifichazardstatementisgiveninSection6.
